Default gluing paper from the front?

I am looking for a economical/fast way glue a large amount of inkjet printed paper onto chipboard (paperboard) and then seal it. I am wondering if there is some product/varnish/glue that I could apply to the front of the inkjet printed paper which would penetrate through the paper and adhere to the chipboard behind it, so that I wouldn't have to glue the paper to the chipboard first? My hope is to seal and glue the paper in a single coat from the front. Is anyone aware of a product that would be able to do this? I already tried simple wood varnish, but it didn't penetrate enough and also smeared the inkjet print a little.

    Thanks a ton

    batman4444,

    Welcome to AMIEN.

This is going to be impossible. Any product strong enough to penetrate the paper from the front will destroy the print via its solvent content.

Make it a two-step process. Glue down the print with an acrylic dispersion gel medium (search this site elsewhere for mounting instructions), and then coat the print. Use a quality substrate, not "chipboard."

Did you know there are now printers that can print on a rigid substrate? You could mount the paper and then run it through one of those printers. You will have to find a print service that has one of these new printers.

Thanks a ton for the reply, I really appreciate it.

I am wondering just for kicks what some products that would be able to penetrate the paper would be (despite the fact that they will destroy the print).

Also, I am wondering if you have any idea if they make an acrylic medium that I could water down enough to apply via a spray bottle?

    Thanks again

    batman4444,

Probably one of the ketone solvents would be strong enough to travel through the paper, but you do not want to be handling any of those! Many are very toxic.

There are acrylic dispersion mediums and paints made for airbrushing which would probably go through a spray bottle ...
